Tangled - Rapunzel
So what can I say...I'm a sucker for Disney. So after deciding between Merida or Rapunzel I chose the one I had the fabric for....lol....there is no use letting good fabric get away. In all honesty I was to tackle this project last year but ran out of time. So I dusted the old sewing machine and got to work
Simplicity 2065
Granted this dress only goes up to a size 8 which does not work for me....sigh*** My niece is a 10/12 so I really had to revise this costume. So I've decided to make the dress as is and add a couple of inches on the skirt. Also for the bodice I'm going to add some grommets to lace it up and a modesty panel that way she can wear it more than once.
Wish me luck its day 2 and so far I have the bodice and under skirt. But then again I've been dragging my feet so I should really get going. I'm actually wondering if the three skirt is a good idea... I'm just going to make the petticoat its own skirt and see if that fixes the problem.

My Review
Pattern Description:
So this is a Rapunzel costume that I might add is more of a princey feel than it does the actual cartoon version of the costume. That seemed more layed back and cotton like. So I choose it just because my niece loves her and wanted that for her birthday so I was like fine I'll do it.
Pattern Sizing:
Sadly my niece is a size 10/12 and the 8 was far to small so I made the 8 and made the skirt larger but the bodice I had to modify to fit her frame.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes and no, I didn't some of the add on like the flowers lace and ribbon on the skirt so I omitted that and did simple flowers. I didn't like the lace ruffle at the neckline since I felt it didn't need it.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were okay I think half way thru the dress I started doing my own thing only because I felt that I could work it out rather than have that tell me what I'm doing wrong.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I honestly didn't like the multiple skirt it was too much. I was okay with the first 2 but the last I felt was pointless. I could have just made her a slip she could use with other dresses rather than keep adding on. I don't like working with netting its itchy and well I rather get versatility out of the thing rather than just one dress she might not wear beyond halloween.
Fabric Used:
I used satin the stiff kind only because it was 2 bucks a yard and was pretty. I'm a sucker for shiny.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The dress was too small so I had to do a lace back on the bodice to get it to fit. I also added velcro to the skirt because I didn't feel like sewing on a zipper. I tried to do a modesty panel but that didn't work out as plan.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
No I wouldn't. I mean its okay but next time if I decide to venture into something crazy I would nix the third skirt and hand sew the sleeves as my machine kept giving me trouble.
Conclusion:
The dress was okay after 3 days on working on it I'm pleased looks nice I just wouldn't do it again. I mean its a lot of work for something that's going to be worn once twice depending really.
